  17. AFTER READING THE LICENSE AND WARRANTY INFORMATION BELOW, FOLLOW THE
  18. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO INSTALL CHARTIST:

  20. Place the diskette into the appropriate drive on your system.
  21. From the Windows Program Manager, choose the "File Run..." command.
  22. In the Command Line field of the File Run dialog, type the drive
  23. letter, followed by a colon, then type "\install.exe" into the field.
  24. For example:
  25.     b:\install.exe
  26. Click on OK, and the install process should initiate.

  28. If the uninstalled distribution already exists on your hard drive,
  29. (you unzipped it to there, for example) you can install from there by
  30. entering the full path name to install.exe in that directory.

  112. at the discretion of Novagraph.

  124. You may use The Chartist Package for evaluation purposes for a period
  125. not to exceed thirty (30) days. If you continue using all or any part

  127. you MUST pay Novagraph the correct registration fee.

  129. If you do not Register the Chartist Package you MAY NOT use it beyond
  130. the thirty (30) day evaluation period. If you do so you are violating
  131. the terms of this license, U.S. Copyright Law, and the applicable

  136. As the exclusive copyright holder for Chartist, Novagraph authorizes
  137. distribution only in accordance with the following restrictions.

  281. All sample files were created with an HP LaserJet IIIP printer
  282. selected.  All text uses TrueType fonts.
  283.  
  284. You can change the typeface of all symbols in a chart at the same time with
  285. the Symbol Text Fonts command (Tool Bar button with the single "F" in it).
  286. Select all symbols (Symbol Select All), then click the "F" button. From the
  287. font dialog, select a typeface name that you want. If you only change that,
  288. all other font properties will remain unchanged. You can do this with any
  289. group of selected symbols.

  295. Where the Tool Bar Icons Are Defined
  296. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  297. Each Tool Bar Icon button selects a command from the menu. To see
  298. what commands are tied to the Tool Bar, press F1 from the main Chartist
  299. Window. This brings up the top level Help Index for Chartist.  There is
  300. a Tool Bar Topic that you can click on, and that will tell you what you
  301. need to know.

  303. Printing Problems
  304. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  305. Chartist uses a lot of different text and graphics commands for drawing
  306. to displays and printers. Some printer drivers distributed with Windows 3.1
  307. have bugs in them (!), causing incomplete drawing of symbols or lines at times.
  308. We know that the HP LaserJet II series (and clones), and some HP LaserJet III
  309. series printers can exhibit these problems. The drivers released in the
  310. fall of 1992 and later correct the known printer driver bugs with respect
  311. to Chartist and Chartist-2. You need to get these drivers from Microsoft.
  312. If you have access to Compuserve, they are available in the Microsoft
  313. Software Library. Download the file WDL.TXT for an up to date listing of
  314. the available driver updates. You should also be able to get the latest
  315. driver from your printer manufacturer.

  319. Library Shapes
  320. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  321. A common question asked is about additional shapes to those
  322. available in the standard shape file. When you register, you get an
  323. additional library containing over 100 shapes and arrowheads.
  324.  
  325. If you still want to "roll your own", there is a shape library technical
  326. supplement in the user's manual that you get on registration. Creating shapes
  327. is fairly technical, but the standard shape library provides many examples
  328. that you can build upon.
